Our Streets, Our Nights! Friday October 24th
This year, Glow Rides supported by Cycling UK are happening across the UK, and we're proud to be part of a whole movement of women-led mass rides!
Meet at 7:30pm at Middle Meadow Walk on Friday 24th October Light up your bike (and yourself!) and join us for a leisurely ride around the centre of Edinburgh.
Cycling UK are a charity whose campaign My Ride Our Right shows how intimidating behaviour from drivers, poor infrastructure and fears over safety are deterring more women in the UK from cycling compared with men, especially during dark evenings.
We've been organising women-led mass night rides since 2021, and our message to City of Edinburgh Council remains the same - our city needs safe and comfortable on-road cycle infrastructure, protected from traffic or off the road, on well-lit direct routes. We've been featured in the Scotsman and appeared on STV. Maybe becoming part of a national event will help get our local politicians and planners into gear?
The main day of action is October 22nd, but rides across the UK will be happening all that week. We've picked Friday as it's our traditional day, and also inclusive for young kids and their parents. That's 7:30pm at Middle Meadow Walk on Friday 24th October; we hope you can be there! Everyone is welcome, but we ask that men stay towards the back of the ride.
